Ah yes, I activated the logs when I set up the app, seeing I have loads of diskspace and I love logs myself.

For the record, I'm using the api_demo and entering the following parameters in the "Play mp3 file" section:
Serial Number: 0019XX001XXX (this being my mac-address of the tag/tag)
File Id: 70122 (this being the mp3 I uploaded, it is resided under /broad/7/0/1/2/2.mp3)
And perhaps I should mention this mp3-file is about 1.2Mb big and has a duration of over 2 minutes (can that be the problem?).

Not much, huh? It looks like it does close to nothing with that mp3-file?

Perhaps also worth noticing: the server where opennab resides is hosted in the USA, so the clock is about 9 hours "off" (I'm in Belgium). Could that have something to do with it?

And last, but not least, I get the following response on the api_demo page after submitting:

You can check just after this command at http://my.domain.com/vl/burrows/0019XX001XXX if the file name "/broad/7/0/1/2/2.mp3" appears. This url is the place where OpenNab stores all info for the rabbit 0019XX001XXX.

That should be ok too (except if the connection is too slow) but we have no trace in the log of an action indicating to the rabbit to retrieve the file so I guess the issue is not there.

I just tried a mp3 play with same actions and same mp3 id and here is the log (the file was played with no problem) :

The important part is [0a,54]011e5b4fe1e68ed23fc6acdba9f6bb4f11f9f2eefbfac6c09b860df9f2eefb665870ffbe9ef43d323dc5807fc2953ffb4f5f79882445.
It indicates a type 0a block with a length of 54 bytes where is encoded the file name.
If the rabbit does not get a 0a block of this length following the call of p4.jsp then it means he does not get the order to play the file.

I'm going to think about it but I don't understand (yet) why this block is not sent.

bon autement je te prépare une applet java qui va permettre de faire du tts vers mp3, il faudra donc qu'on discute gestion pour organiser tout ça
genre le php génére dynamiquement le html qui appel l'applet
en passant en param le numéro de série, et l'applet appel l'api
d'opennab en passant le mp3 et le numéro de série,
un truc du genre ...

autrement pour l'idée de comunion vocale, autant qu'on peut c'est clair et vive les potins !

Reprenons,
le plus cool serait de gérer des espaces pour avoir comme des tchats que l'on metterait publics ou privées (lol ça me fait penser à la cb ...voir au talkie walkie, vive le modernisme lol)

En réaction à vos idées de communion vocale...
Vous envisagez de les créer comment vos MP3 ? en passant par le site de violet, ou en ayant votre propre (pas home-made, mais installé sur un serveur 'perso') moteur de synthèse vocale.

Car j'ai regardé, en en gratuit, y'a pas grand chose.
Je suis sous linux, et j'en ai vu 2 pour le moment: festival, et Espeak.

Je ferais des tests un de ces 4... pour voir ce que ca pourrait donner... afin de ne plus etre dépendant de violet...

moi j'ai déjà un moteur de synthése lol

je devrais pouvoir le traduire dans une applet,
du coup c'est le poste client qui fera la synthése

autrement pour la communion faut voir si le tag/tag lit les wav, si oui

Non le lapin ne lit pas les Wav ... Après pour la convertion... je vois pas comment faire...

si c'est le cas,il faudra convertir et de toute façon pour par exemple coder la reconnaissance vocale, il faudra envisager le fait d'installer sur les postes clients un p'tit prog (ex :sous forme de screensaver ) qui fera le taf.

En gros ce serait en fait des applis serveurs qui s'enregistrerais chez opennab, et openab les utiliserais pour faire le taf...

Tu as les mêmes symptomes ? Fichier mp3 bien téléchargé sur le serveur ? Fichier terrier ('burrow') correct après l'appel pour jouer le mp3 ?

Ca a l'air pas mal ton truc mais je me sens pas trop de faire l'intégration tout seul. Manque de temps et surtout connaissances très faibles (voire nulles) sur tout ce qui touche à du java ou à de l'intégration dans un web browser. Faudrait voir si toi (ou quelqu'un d'autre) peut entrer dans le php sur ces aspects là...

The file is correct so it means that OpenNab took into account the API call for playing the mp3.

I did tinker a bit with the function to retrieve the baseurl, seeing I'm on a rather special shared environment (I host at DreamHost), but as the mp3 is correctly uploaded and placed into the burrow, I'm guessing this shouldn't be a problem... ?

Tested on my php 4.4.4 and it works fine

Connected to wabbitvittles.com and it worked too : I requested file '123' and my tag/tag suddenly started to sing 'kill the rabbit ! kill the rabbit !'

There's something we are missing but I still don't know what it is.

Pour le record, j'ai tracé le truc et effectivement, je me suis bien mélangé les pinceaux...
Si tu veux tenter un correction en live, il faut juste modifier la ligne 57 dans /vl/analyze/tools.php pour y mettre :
preg_match( '#/vl/(.*?)\.(php|jsp)#', $r->uri, $matches );
Et il faut aussi mettre ANALYSIS_IS_ACTIVE à true car l'enregistrement est pour l'instant restreint à une activité d'analyse.

Sinon il y a bien un bug sur la remontée de l'enregistrement à Violet pour la reconnaissance vocale (tel que l'avait pressenti Pixel du Rezo).
Etude en cours car j'ai un peu de mal avec le HTTP POST de Curl...
Toute aide est la bienvenue... Cela se passe dans /vl/includes/request.php

Pour le p4 et le mp3, je vois vraiment pas.
Tu dis que tu as mis 'un proxy entre opennab et violet' mais je ne suis pas sûr de comprendre. Rien ne circule entre OpenNab et Violet pour ce qui est de faire jouer un mp3 par OpenNab.

dsl je voulais dire entre mon lapin et opennab , et bah suis fatigué ce soir , et donc rien en retour de la trame p4 pour dire au lapin de jouer un mp3...

I noticed that your Mac address in burrows is lower case while mine was upper case. Does case matter?

Also the entries for your burrow and mine were different?

The development of this functionality has been completed and in final test phase ! We have high hopes that this will be available by tomorrow night ! You will also be able to take advantage of streaming audio and reading MP3 files with your tag/tag.

So perhaps it is turned on for your bunny and not ours. That still wouldn't explain why we lose ALL SOUND (even from Violet) once the proxy is enabled.

Je ne vois pas trop quoi faire à part rajouter du log et encore du log pour voir à quel endroit ça coince.
Pour OpenNab 0.03, je vais rajouter un niveau de log supplémentaire de type 'debug' pour mieux cerner le truc...

Sure !
In OpenNab 0.02 the API is case sensitive : serial number string must be exactly the same as requested by the rabbit when calling p4.jsp
I think it's a good idea to change that in the next version so that we do not have to bother.

The one with the file name is the burrow state when some file needs to be played.
The other one is the burrow state when there's no file to play (though some files might have been played before : after a file is played, the burrow turns back to this 'no file' state)

OpenNab is not related to this API.
You mean you lose all sound? That's another issue.
Do you see any type 0a blocks in the p4 logs ?
Are they followed in the log by requests to /broad/<whatever> ?

I found the problem. Now all we need is HOW TO fix it. The issue is definitely the UPPER CASE LETTERS in the MAC address. As soon as I entered all lower case and send kill-thewabbit.mp3 through the api_demo script, it played. I still get no sound from Violet, and that is because I entered my MAC address with them in ALL UPPER CASE. I do get blinking lights which is the same thing I get locally by entering ALL UPPER CASE. So... all we need is a way to accept either UPPER or lower case letters in the MAC address, and I think it will be perfect.

I'll look around in the code, but you can probably point to the problem in a few seconds. I'm not that smart. :-)

I cannot test it right now but I think replacing:
$this->fileName = 'burrows/'.$serialNumber;
at line 45 in file /vl/includes/burrow.php
by
$this->fileName = 'burrows/'.strtolower($serialNumber);
will do the job.
