Nabaztag Yahoo Widget (Updated)

First attempt at a yahoo widget and I thought it might as well be related to the nabaztag. So here it is, any problems please let me know.

yep, it's very cool nyami and good looking design

But i have the same problem as marfab, ears doesn't work on my computer.

When you say the ears don’t work on your computer what do you mean?

It could be a number of things, have a look at the bottom of the Nabaztag widget, you should notice that there is either a purple or orange "glow" from underneath. If it is orange then the widget hasn’t got a response from the API, probably because it can’t connect or because your serial and/or token are incorrect.

If you want to be able to move the ears on the real Nabaztag you will need to make sure you have checked the “Show ear buttons” option in the preferences, this will display the red and green dots (not pretty I know) which you can click on to set the positions.

If you have moved the ears on the Nabaztag and the widget hasn’t updated then there is a good chance that you have to wait a bit longer, the widget will currently call the API every 5 minuets to get the ear positions (I will add this to the preferences so it can be changed in the next version). You can force an update by going into the widget preferences and hitting save.

Hope this helps, one thing I didn’t mention before is that I have no idea if this will work on a mac.

I have just uploaded a new version of the widget. You can now set the polling interval via the preferences. I have also added a refresh option to the context menu. The new version is available at http://www.nyami.co.uk/nyami-labs/nabaztag-widget.aspx

For my Nabaztag, you're right because I have orange light under my rabbit.

I will work on it. That fact explains some things Very strange because I can send TTS messages.

It might be the fact that the API returns French for French users? (in hindsight that makes sense) I use a regular expression to get the ear positions so that would probably cause it to fail.

What is returned from the API when your profile is French and you go to:

You're right on that point. That will all explain for ears.

I have just uploaded a new version of the widget that should work for users with a French profile (probably 90% of the Nabaztag owners). Apologies for overlooking a fairly obvious bug.

Hi Nyami

Just thought I'd let you know... I'm using a MAC and the widget seems to work, the ears move and TTS works, the only thing that isn't working is the graphics. Here is a screen grab, my desktop is the gray colour by the way!



I'm using 3.1.2 (the very latest version for Macs) of the Yahoo widget engine, I'd love to fix the graphics for everyone on Macs to use this great widget but I haven't got a clue how to.

The updated widget should use the new URL for the API, make sure you download the latest version (1.6 released 5th January 2007). You can get it by going to http://www.nyami.co.uk/nyami-labs/nabaztag-widget.aspx .

I haven’t been able to test this new version as my Nabaztag has died. If you make sure you have the latest version and let me know how you get on.
