Hi there, my Nabaztag arrives tomorrow morning. But my Internet Provider does not offer an open WiFi connection, can you set up the little critter to use a WEP key ?

Thanks for your help in advance

Paul

Hi Paul,

Yes, you can set up your rabbit with a WEP key. You'll have to go to the rabbit set-up page and then, enter the WEP key where it will be asked for.

Welcome to the wi-fi rabbit hutch cheers

Hey there Aero, thankyou for your email

I managed to connect the critter with no security but now he is just sitting there blinking blue lights from left to right.

Whenever I try and access the rabbit setup page at http://192.168.0.1 it tells me I can not connect.

I have checked my Livebox (Router) and the MAC address of the rabbit is listed but there is nowhere to enter the WEP key for the rabbit

Any thoughts / help ?

Paul

Hey there Paul,

Did you set up your livebox in the "router" mode? That means that your livebox is abble to manage severals wi-fi objects on its network.

If you don't to that, the rabbit will not be abble to connect to the wi-fi network or, if it is connecting, you'll lost your connection to internet from your computer.

To reach the rabbit set-up page, you have to deplug it from electricity, press the button beetween it's ears, and then, plug it back. Stop pressing when you got the blue lights.
Then check the available networks, you'll have one named NabaztagXX. Connect your computer on it and here, fill the page with all the informations : wep key, dhcp enabled etc etc....

Tell me if it's ok and my appologies for my awfull english yellownabzwink

Aero :-)

Hi there

Unfortunately that doesn't help as http://192.168.0.1 doesn't work at all. And I can not enter the WEP Key into my Nabaztag via the software that came with the broadband

What do you suggest?

Look below your Livebox, there is your WEP key. Just enter it with ":" between couples of letter and number like this AA:BB and so on then press on "REG" button

Sorry I think we're getting cross wires here.

I can not enter the WEP key in any form on my Livebox Settings for the Nabaztag, or the Nabaztag setup page.

The Nabaztag connects fine when I turn security off, but that is not ideal

Take ti easy Hero yellownabzwink

Did you try to fix the connection to your nabz with Windows? I have to do it all the time. Then I can connect my computer to the set up page. You do a right-clic on your netword icons and then "fix"

Another thing, it's very helpfull to cut the livebox when you wanna set up your rabbit. Like this, you only have the nabz netword in your network windows.

Hi again - sorry to be a pain

I still can not get this pesky critter to connect. Perhaps Ill try and explain it better

I am using Orange Broadband with a Wireless Livebox protected by a WEP Key

To add wifi devices to the livebox so that they can connect to the net I have to put the livebox into search mode and then enter the WEP Key on the device so that it can access the livebox and therefore access the web.

In the livebox setup there is no page to enter the WEP key for individual devices, this has to be done on the device that is connecting.

When I try and connect to the Nabaztag setup page I can not find the page (this is because 192.168.0.1 is my PC's address and therefore controlled by my livebox)

When I turn all security off I can connect the Nabaztag to the web fine.

Hope this helps some more

Paul

Hello,

Don't worry, you are not a pain yellownabzwink

Did you try to light off your live box and then, use the windows tool to scan the networks availables? Normally, the only thing your computer will find will be the nabz network.

Another thing, maybe there is another security than the wep key : the mac adress. Can you add the nabz mac adress to your livebox specificities?

You're wrong in your rabbit's configuration.

First of all your computer must be on Computer-to-Computer wifi access.
Then your rabbit must be in blue.
In the rabbit's configuration page, you have to enter the SSId of your Livebox, your livebox WEP key. DHCP on Yes and proxy server on "NO".
