When starting, bunny just blinks lights - then nothing

I take my new Nabaztag/tag, hold down the button on top of it, plug in the power cord. Some lights flash once, very quickly, then nothing happens (I keep the button down as instructed). No bluelights, no blinking lights, nothing.

Any ideas what could be wrong?
